The research focus of the Center centers on Indigenous health care and cultural sustainability, integrating interdisciplinary expertise from medicine, public health, the humanities and social sciences, and education. The Center’s key research areas include the following:
1. Indigenous Health Inequalities and Health Promotion
This area examines the health status of Indigenous peoples in both tribal homelands and urban settings, with particular attention to chronic diseases, mental health, and access to health resources. Research analyzes the social, environmental, and cultural factors contributing to health disparities in order to inform effective health promotion strategies.
2. Culturally Sensitive and Culturally Safe Health Care Models
This research area focuses on developing health care and health management models that are grounded in Indigenous cultural contexts. The aim is to enhance patient–provider communication, improve the quality of medical services, and advance health equity through culturally sensitive and culturally safe care practices.
3. Indigenous Health Education and Innovation in Medical Education
By integrating medical education with Indigenous knowledge systems, this area develops culturally responsive health education materials and medical education picture books. The goal is to promote culturally sensitive health literacy and to cultivate health professionals with strong cultural competence.
4. Community-Based Health Care, Telemedicine, and Sustainable Development
Adopting a community-based approach, this research area combines homeland e-health systems with cross-sector collaboration to promote practical applications of Indigenous community health care, telemedicine, and cultural sustainability, supporting long-term and sustainable development.
