Research Focus

The Center is grounded in the core values of “Health Equity” and “Cultural Sustainability.” It integrates medical expertise with cultural sensitivity to develop community-based Indigenous health care models that reflect local characteristics.

The first research axis focuses on establishing culturally sensitive medical services by implementing the “Rural e-Care System,” developing telehealth promotion, day care, and community support programs to address the high prevalence of chronic diseases and aging populations in Indigenous communities.

Secondly, it emphasizes the revitalization and transmission of Indigenous languages and cultures through immersive language learning, curriculum design, and cultural activities that strengthen ethnic identity and foster intergenerational exchange.

In addition, the Center promotes the establishment and systematic analysis of an Indigenous Health Database to support evidence-based policy translation and provide recommendations that assist the government in improving rural health and medical policies.

The Center also actively builds inter-university, inter-institutional, and international collaboration networks, hosting forums and academic symposia to broaden academic perspectives and enhance policy influence.

Ultimately, the goal is to cultivate local professionals capable of delivering culturally safe care, empower community autonomy, and establish sustainable models of health and cultural care. Through these efforts, the Center seeks to integrate research outcomes into the healthcare system while strengthening community connections, laying a solid foundation for the health and cultural sustainability of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples.
